President’s Corner – May 2017

Well here it is May, one more month until we have a start of another year in our Chapter. I can attest that I am leaving this organization in very competent hands!  The Chapter officers slated for the upcoming year are Alexei Holstein as our President, John Farley as our President-Elect, and the incomparable Nicole Dunbar as our Secretary/Treasurer. They are the future; I am sure they will be giving this Chapter 100%, and we can be proud to have their commitment and leadership. Congratulations! The Board of Governors and the members of our Chapter have given you the trust and faith that you will continue the plans to make this Chapter one of the best in our Region. We are all successful because of your efforts.

We are beginning the installation of our award-winning newsletter.  A committee has begun to organize this publication which will give all our members a more informed way to see how well we are doing and what the future is in store for our events, meeting minutes, and all that makes our Chapter what it is.

ASHRAE has always been relevant to our HVAC community, and with our renewed interest in the Historian/Archives position, we are beginning cataloging all of our files which go back to the beginning of this Chapter. We also want to share some of these archived files with our members at our monthly meetings.  Mark Trader, historian, is planning an ‘Archive Party’ to review what files would be relevant to our history and what files we need to keep.

May 25th will be our Student Trivia night at Bridgeport Brewing, our scheduled May meeting. Hope to see you there.

May 9th our Chapter has been invited to join CSI’s ‘Mock Bid Event’ should be a hoot.  Stay tuned for the event details on our website.

May 18th is the start of our CRC meeting in Bellevue, Washington.  This is where all our Chapters in our Region come together and share their successes and receive and deliver awards for all deserving.  Alexei and John will be presenting to the Region a Power Point presentation on the health of our Chapter. This is a time to share how well we are progressing at a Chapter and what are plans are in the upcoming year.  It’s also a time to gain insight on what other successful Chapters are doing and how they have solved problems and gained momentum and vigor with their members.  It’s the most important event we have as Society members to meet ASHRAE officials and see how the organization works.

I wish all the best for this Chapter, we have the beginnings of something great and sustaining for future members.  Please join us at our events, encourage others to do the same.   So long and have a great summer!

Sincerely,

Wayne H. Brosman
ASHRAE Oregon Chapter President (2016-17)
